About the event

'Read more' below for open times and how to stop in to help!

There is a Beech 18 restoration project at the Vintage Flying Museum at Meacham Airport.  This is a pretty neat project in that the aircraft was once owned by Jackie Cochran.  The Vintage Flying Museum is restoring the aircraft. They have named the project the “Hollywood Bomber”! They welcome any of our members to help them get this aircraft back in the air.  They are working on the aircraft EVERY Friday and Saturday until it flies!  Being a licensed mechanic is not necessary, just a passion to get this bird flying!

Here’s a recent Flying article on it:

https://www.flyingmag.com/restoring-a-beech-super-18-to-former-glory-brings-aviation-community-together/

It is the museum’s intent, as an homage to Jackie, that the aircraft be used to promote women's opportunities in aviation.  Pilots, mechanics, dispatchers, controllers, operations, whatever!

If you want to come out any time, they are there from 10 am - 12 pm, break to eat lunch together, and return from 1 pm-4 pm. You don't need permission or to register to come out - just show up and bring excitement and passion. If you want to go with a big group, please reach out to Bill first at vasprofromdover@gmail.com and he can figure out some tasks for a group ahead of time.
