2020 Virtual Girls In Aviation Day
Girls in Aviation Day 2020 is going virtual! Help us spread the word!
This year, with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Women in Aviation International will forgo in-person GIAD events and instead launch a mobile app developed specifically for girls to learn about aviation and aerospace.
The app will launch on September 26, 2020 and be available for kids to dive into YEAR ROUND!
In addition to the app, WAI will mail supplementary merchandise kits to participants’ homes when they register at WAI.org/GIAD (while supplies last).
ALL GIAD 2020 attendees who register at wai.org will be able to opt into a free 6-month membership to Women in Aviation, gaining access to WAI’s scholarships and magazines (regardless if there are merchandise kits available).
The app is packed with fun and educational content for children ages 8-17 interested in aviation — and it’s completely FREE!
Help us get this awesome tool into the hands of North Texas girls and reach our biggest audience ever!!

The WAI North Texas chapter is securing additional GIAD backpacks and magazines to give to local kids if/when the merchandise kits are no longer available through the registration page.
In this likely event, we will need volunteers to hand out the kits at two designated locations: one in Dallas and one in Fort Worth (specific locations TBD).
This volunteer event will coincide with GIAD, from 8am to noon on Sept. 26. We will limit 10 volunteers per location & masks will be required for the entire shift.
Show Your Pride with the #GIAD2020 Social Media Challenge
Since we will not be able to gather for our favorite event of the year as a large group, we will be showing our WAI Pride by all participating in #GIAD2020 Social Media Challenge on GIAD (Sept 26th). If you have a GIAD pink shirt, please wear it and post it on 9/26. If you do not already have a shirt, here's your chance to purchase some GIAD swag in time for the event!
Our chapter will be placing a bulk order for our members to purchase official GIAD 2020 T-shirts, ball caps and aviation patches! (see below for what they look like!)
Once ordered, they will be available for pick up at our Dallas and Fort Worth volunteer booths on Sept. 26 (preferred) or you can arrange pickup at a different time in North Arlington)
For prices and to request your order, please fill out the Merchandise Google Form by this Sunday, August 30th.
Thank you for supporting Girls in Aviation Day as we make the move online! We are looking forward to making this event bigger than ever and reaching as many young girls as possible!
