Press Release -- September 11, 2018 -- Girls in Aviation Day
September 22nd, Frontiers of Flight Museum
Over 2000 students and their parents will gather at the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas, Texas on September 22nd, 2018 for the 4th annual Girls in Aviation Day Dallas. Students attending will learn about aviation and aerospace through hands-on activities, four career panels, a career and college expo, a one-on-one resume review and three education sessions including “How to Win Scholarships.”
“We want our local girls to see that there are exciting careers available to them as engineers, astronauts, pilots, dispatchers, air traffic controllers, and dozens of other jobs within the aviation and aerospace community,” says WAI North Texas Chapter President Chrissi Culver.

More than 80 Girls in Aviation Day events will be hosted across 14 countries by various Women in Aviation chapters and Corporate members between September 8th through November 17th. A complete list of Girls in Aviation Day events can be found on Women in Aviation International’s website.

The North Texas Chapter’s event is free but registration is required. The event is targeting students age 8-18 with a few activities for children under 8. The chapter is seeking volunteers – both with and without aviation backgrounds – to support in all aspects of the day. Volunteers can apply here.

Sponsors of the event include Delta Airlines, Aero Capital Solutions, Van Bortel Aircraft, RAA, American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, GA Telesis, Million Air Dallas, RedBull Air Race, CFM Materials, Addison Airport and Workforce Solutions of North Central Texas.
“We just want to see girls interacting with positive role models and considering aviation as they make their college and career plans,” said Culver. “I wish there was something like this when I was growing up,” she added.

More information about the event can be found on the chapter’s website. Questions can be sent to Chrissi Culver, Chapter President, at waintx@gmail.com
